I Backed my Baby in Cyprus and the Local's Reaction was Priceless!

Why I had to Back my Baby in Cyprus and How People Reacted

I backed my child in Lanark, Cyprus
I’m sure you’re thinking “what? You carried wrapper and was backing your child in the abroad of all places? Why travel to the abroad and carry wrapper to start backing baby? Who does that?”

Well, I do. And I did. And there’s no shame in this mama’s game. Women have been backing babies way back before I was born and many more will do it after me.

No? You don’t agree? Well, hear me out.
So My family and I went to Lanarca, Cyprus to spend Easter and currently we are a family of four. There’s me, the reliable mom, aka the Backer. Then there’s my husband, the head of the home, the provider, basically the person who sponsored this trip. then there’s our first born boy, the toddler also known as World War II or little man. Then there’s little Miss sunshine, the baby aka the Backee.

So, we’ve got 2 kids under 2 years and 4 hands between us two adults and we’ve got one stroller and there’s a lot of walking to be done and did I mention there’s only one stroller?

So we’ve mapped out places we’ll visit while we’re there. We’ll visit some medival Castles, churches, takes walks on their beautiful beaches with blue blue sea, and check out other places. And I had initially decided on using a shoulder carrier for the baby while little man stays in the stroller however a day before we arrived Cyprus I developed some aches on my shoulders which I am sure was as a result of sleeping like a triangle shaped log during nighttime breastfeeding. What’s a triangle log, you ask? It’s basically when you sleep in a hexagon position while brea— you know what, you’ll find out when you start popping out babies and decide to breastfeed.

So, where was I?

O yes, so I decided instead of carrying little Miss Sunshine in the shoulder carrier, it will be much more convenient if she was on my back in my trustee wrapper that was handed down to me by my mother whose mother handed it down to her whose— I’m joking. My mom got it at Wuse Market to sew fine cloth for herself and me, when I saw it, decided it was the right length to wrap and wrap properly around my body with still enough material left to tie round my neck and under my legs—. Plus I liked the intricate colourful patterns so I demanded she give it to me. And she did and now I use it everywhere! Life is good.

So yes, it was this wrapper that I used to back little Miss Sunshine up and down.

I backed her on the beach. In the castles. At the church of St Lazarus. In restaurants. At the Camel zoo. Everywhere!

And the locals loved it. Everywhere we went, people went wild. Taking pictures of me and my baby and I was striking poses left right centre, high low, under belly — you catch the gist.

So yes, and that is the end of my story so change your style! Another one! I'm joking!
But thank you for reading my story.
And here are some pictures of me just so you know I was telling the truth.
