COVID-19: New Study Shows Pregnant Moms CanNOT Transfer Virus to Their Newborns

 COVID-19 is not transmitted from pregnant mothers to newborns. 

• Four babies born in a hospital in Wuhan, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak, did not show signs of infection and remain healthy today.

Great news mamas! Pregnant moms cannot transfer coronavirus to their babies. 

There is so much rumours of coronavirus out there its baffling. 

I just wish people would do their research or at least visit Mama Bear Naija to get up-to-date reaearch based information instead of just doing "dem say, dem say". 

I know a lot of infected pregnant mothers are worried about if COVID-19 is transferable from mother to pikin. 

That is why i keep my eyes, ears and emails open to receive any and every news concerning the Koro.

I recently got in my email an alert  from Reddit on the latest news on the Koro and pregnant moms. 

Reddit user Mistweaver80 so kindly posted that Coronavirus is not transmitted to newborn from mothers with the link to the study. 

So I had to confirm for myself. 

Below is the important aspects of the study in bullet points. 

• Four Chinese pregnant women from the city of Wuhan, were confirmed to have the infection.
• 3 out of the 4 infants were born through c-section.
• Out of the four pregnant women with the COVID-19 infection, three had fever, two had a cough and experienced headache. 
• The newborns were isolated from their mothers immediately after birth and were formula fed.
• Three of the four infants tested negative for COVID-19.
• One baby's parents did not provide consent for their baby to be tested for COVID-19.
• Of the three infants whose parents provided consent to be diagnostically tested, none tested positive for the virus. 
• None of the infants developed serious clinical symptoms such as fever, cough, or diarrhea (these symptoms are usual in COVID-19 victims) 

Though the number of participants in this study is, in reality not Sufficient to conclude that the coronavirus is not transmitted from pregnant mama to newborn, however there is a 3 in 4 chance that pregnant mothers cannot tranfer COVID-19 to their babies.
